national sunshine week. it is no secret that open government is under attack in san francisco. someone gets a title and already he thinks he is an aristocrat who should be able to make his self-serving deals at the expense of the public without interference from democracy. there was a time when open records laws public library were both involved in serving a democratic right to know and empowering the people. that was before the library and san francisco government decided that serving the interests of the so-called aeries toe contracts could be turned into a private income stream. ~ you have become so enslaved to private money you decided right to know is a place to save money. if we want a democracy, we need open institutions of knowledge that allow access to the truth. saving money on those institutions of knowledge is like selling our children. it is no accident that the san francisco public library is the most egregious sunshine violator in the city. once it is a private income stream, the philanthropyists want power and exclusivityity. the destruction of democracy is wha

of the greatest that the city of san francisco has ever had. the acoustics and it is all part of the experience that rory and robert are expert at it. they hire wonderful people and create a classy beautiful space in which everyone can enjoy the evening of the best music. they book such incredible performances from around the globe and those performers often need local musician and hire us to accompany them. they also book a lot of local talent and i can't even begin to express my gratitude toward them for giving so many local performers a chance to shine. and these are well-paid positions for the musicians and the exposure for an up scale venue is priceless. all of this is good for the musicians, the economy, great for the audience and for the community of san francisco in general. the razz room has also supported many benefits for a variety of causes in the bay area, it is a powerful, positive force in the community. and the down turn in the economy has taken its toll on all of us in the entertainment industry. and i am hoping that they can resolve these issues so that rory and robert could c

is tracking a new storm that will arrive tonight. that is raising concerns in the san francisco neighborhood where several sinkholes have formed. now we learn what is happening. >> right now, it is very quiet but no one will be watching the sky more closely today than neighbors out here in this west portal neighborhood of san francisco. the big fear is that forecasted rain and how it might impact the already growing sinkhole problem out here. the problem right now, we can tell you, there are up to five sinkholes and it started last wednesday when a city water main broke causing gushing water to trigger the holes. now, homes in the area in some cases are slowly caving into the ground, 12 have been damaged and up to four are now red tagged and they are simply not livable. private insurance companies of the homeowners say that they don't plan to help. the city is having to step up and help homeowners with the repairs. >> structural fixes for the things that might be settlement cracks or things like that, those we will pay. >> it could be a big repair bill in some cases. the neighborhood was ori

about 30 or 40 entertainment venues in san francisco, new york, and moscow is. i have a technical question about county transfers. -- and lost vegas. i have a technical question about county transfers. right now, there are very few buildings that you can lease in san francisco anymore. this town has gone nuts in the last five or six months. there are no liquor licenses to purchase. i have strong connections with the liquor licenses on line and some of these people. i am sorry that the top of the list. i have 48 license requests that i cannot fail. i have a two-star michelin restaurant that is moving from downtown out into the mission that the only thing i can do is throw a quick 41 on the place because we can -- because i cannot find a 47 or 848 to do it. i would like you -- or a 48 to do it. i would like to think about some injured county transfers. -- enter-county transfers. there are a lot of restaurants that have a million dollar construction costs and cannot find a license and are freaking out. licensing has gone to about 128,000 this month. we assume they will surely go to 1

one, we ensure confidentiality will be maintained up until the time they come to san francisco for a face-to-face interview. once they come into this building or whatever building we're going to use then all bets are off and we don't know who they're going to run into, who is going to hear about it. we protect the confidentiality up to that point. we advise candidates when they need to release that information to their current employers so we give them coaching around that, when it's necessary, how to do it, how to keep the lid on. the preliminary references that we do is always done with individual who is will not jeopardize an individual's current employer so we're not talking to people like that. final references done with those individuals. we abide by the open records laws, and the sunshine laws and i think in san francisco we haven't talked to the city attorney about that or your counsel about that but the open records laws and sean -- sunshine laws protect them up to appointment so we're not in a situation where every transmission of information is available to the
